Frequently Asked Questions
Can Future Fence panels be cut down to smaller lengths?
All Future Fence panels can be cut down to specific lengths when installing. Simply turn your panel over, mark out the required length on the top and bottom rails and cut with a circular saw or grinder.
What posts should be used with Future Fence Batten Panels & Gates?
While any Future Fence post can be used, the difference will be mainly visual. We suggest using 50 x 100mm posts (50mm side facing forward) to (1) blend your posts into the fence line (2) allow the battens to finish flush with the front of the posts and (3) match the 50 x 100 frames on the sides of our batten gates. For corner returns, we suggest a 100 x 100mm post or 65 x 65mm placed behind the fence line and joined with angle brackets.
Are Future Fence panels pool compliant?
Yes, Future Fence panels in 1200, 1500 and 1800mm heights meet the Australian dimensional and loading requirements under AS1926.1 2012. Our panels have been independently tested by a NATA accredited facility with testing reports available on request. Our recommended installation instructions can be downloaded here.
Please note: Your local council or state may have requirements in addition to the Australian Standards and we suggest planning your pool fence in advance with your pool builder and/or certifier.
How are the panels mounted?
Future Fence panels can be mounted using our standard brackets or angle brackets (sold separately). Standard brackets sleeve over the rail and mount to the side of the post. Our angle brackets can be used to run your panels over the front of the post.
Do they come with caps?
Absolutely - all Future Fence panels come with aluminium powder-coated caps included in the panel price.
What if I'm on a sloping block?
Not every block is flat. Our panels can be stepped down in height, cut on a rake under the bottom rail to the slope of the land, or a combination of both. Here is an example of where Future Fence panels have been cut on a rake to follow a 150mm change in level over of the length of a panel, with the next post stepped at an equal height.
Can the panels be used as a Balustrade?
No - our panels have not been designed or engineered for use as balustrades over 1m off the ground.
